Life Coaching Courses #1: Positioning

Life Coaching Courses #1: Positioning life coach positioning

Life coaching courses: Are You #TeamChuck Or #TeamElvis?

The answer is lesson #1 in life coaching courses

So this morning, I decided to check out the Perth shore along with a few of my friends.

Man…isn’t Perth gorgeous?

Even though Australia did treat me pretty horribly last time I was here, all is forgiven now.

(By “pretty horribly” I mean I lost my life coaching courses program last time I was here… but that’s a tale for another time.)

In fact I am thankful for whatever happened…it made me a much better person.

And now that I am here basking under the sunshine…man it sure feels so redemptive!

It is like, really feels like my last 3 years of hard work is being rewarded in one go!!

So having taking in the gorgeous Perth sunlight, I am sitting here in this pretty chill café, and I have something that I want to talk to you about.

I was actually pretty surprised about the number of emails I have been getting about this.

People, in various life coaching courses, are having a little difficulty with understanding the concept of positioning.

I have one person asking me “Hey Sai, my program is the first of its kind out there…I am gonna be fine, right?”

Well… answering that question will require a little time..

So bear with me will ya?

Life coaching training institute ….begin!

So let’s go back to the question that I was asked earlier.

“Hey Sai, my program is the very best of its kind out there…I am gonna be fine right?”

Here is why:

You can have the best program out there…it could be the single best thing ever created

If it is just lying around gathering dust…then what’s the use?

Let me give you an example…which can be a little controversial.

Tell me, you know who this guy is?

This man is Chuck Berry with his infectiously enthusiastic singing style and sick guitar chops, he created a whole new genre itself.

The genre that defined the 50’s and 60’s, and was the major influence behind all the music that dominated the charts in the 70’, 80’s and 90’s.

That genre was “Rock ‘n’ Roll” and if history was kind then Chuck Berry should have been the real King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

But unfortunately… that wasn’t to be. you may know the man who is known as the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” is…

Ok wait..I wanna do this properly.. *clears throat*

And the applauses come in…oh wait…why is that tomato flying towards my face?…It’s coming closer and closer…..

(Hey singing is not part of the life coach training online -.-)

The one and only ELVIS PRESLEY!!

Now here is the thing.

I LOVE Elvis… I think he is one of the greatest musicians of all time.

But he simply wasn’t the man who “started” Rock ‘N’ Roll.

How does that help in my life coach training?

It was Chuck Berry…and through no fault of his own, he was refused the right to sit on his rightful throne because of reasons which were out of his control.

Namely.. .Elvis was more marketable and well, let’s just say he had the more “favourable skin colour”.

People were still stupid back then and stupid issues like race privilege were still a thing.

Now, I am not discrediting Elvis here. He is THE man. I love his work.

But he simply shouldn’t have been the “King”.

And the reason why he was so is because of that timeless marketing principle that I was talking about “Positioning”.

And that is…life coaching courses lesson #1.

It didn’t matter that Chuck was the first guy to do it… no…because all that mattered was that in the people’s head Elvis was the first guy to do so!

Here it is and you better brand this to your head:

It doesn’t matter if you were the first in the “marketplace” all that matters in being the first in the people’s head.

The mind is a weird thing.

If you write something on a piece of paper you can simply scratch it off and write something else…but that same principle doesn’t work with your mind.

If something gets stuck in it, then you can never change your mind to act differently.

No matter how much money you spent in advertisements for your program, you can NEVER change the mind.

Awww…come on…

I am here for don’t be sad now!!

I told you…this is “life coaching courses” lesson #1 didn’t I?

You know what the solution to this is?

Find a new category and be the first one in it!!

See…you don’t need to pay a bazillion dollars for life coaching courses to learn that now do you?

And after that no matter who comes in… it could be Tony Robbins for all I care… no matter what happens.

As long as you are the person who was first in a particular category…you will be THE go-to coach in that category.

You want proof?

You have heard of XEROX right?

So after they established their dominance in the photocopy category, they tried to enter the Personal Computer category.

They wanted to make computers that would outshine the IBM computers.

So, when was the last time you saw any Xerox Computers?

I rest my case.

It doesn’t matter how much of a big dog you are… are you the first one in the audience’s head?

No amount of fancy and expensive life coaching courses is going to change that simple fact.

That’s all that matters.

Oh btw… I love both Chuck and Elvis to bits…for me they are both amazing.

In fact I am going to listen to “Johnny b Goode” and “Jailhouse Rock” right now!!

Anyway…class ended for the day..
